Steam Valve Actuation
Pilot acting
The electric actuator replaces the pilot valve of the steam valve. The hydraulic oil system is retained to provide power oil to the steam valve, however, the governed oil system is removed and replaced with an electrical demand signal to the servo drive of the electric actuator. The solution achieves more accurate positioning of the steam valve as the effects of drift and wear in the pilot valve are removed.
Direct acting
Both the pilot and relay valve are removed and replaced by an electric actuator acting directly on the steam valve, often via a lever fulcrum assembly. This solution has the added advantage that all oil system are removed. The electric actuators will interface with an existing electronic governor system or they can be fitted in conjunction with a TCL governor system such as the TC41-SG microprocessor-based controller.
